Sigh, you know something gets bad when I actually make an account so I can post. Normally I just read this forum, but this post has spurred me to pull back the head of the bust and open the door hiding the polls to the batcave.
As to the first post, that is horrible. But, I can honestly say you are right. Hells Precipice is a breeding ground for morons. I was there yesterday as W/R trying desperately to get a group (mostly because I am a glutton for punishment. I like henches because they can not say "N00B" and the day Anet puts that in, I am leaving.) and all people want is a W/Mo... In my most humble of opinions one of the overrated professions known to man. I am unable to get a group for hours because every group's leader have their heads collectively shoved up a narrow dark hole. So I end up taking henchmen and one real person (who could follow instructions) and finish it. I would like to blame 14 year olds, but it is more extensive than that. The last time I was there, I had a group that was in the colloquial "F-ing awesome!!", except for one guy, who decided at the portals that he was the leader. Then, when the current leader decented to the change, he goes out and trains back as many of the lava things as he could find (and what speaks to the ability of the group was that we were still able to win). That ranks up there with people who speak to the ghost. (if you know me, when I go to underworld I like to run up to the ghost and PRETEND to speak to him just to scare people It is a mean prank, but i like watching people rant until they figure out I did not do anything)

The team I completed it it with were 1 other Warrior, 3 rangers, 2 eles and a monk. I know I lacked the necessary Monk in the mission, but with the wall of Winter Spirits and Self-healing it was almost ineffective.

We did also died a couple of times, but the point is, if you ask for Wall of winter, a few monks and eles, and a backup warrior, you'll be fine, and will finish the mission (including Bonus) in 3 hours tops.

lmao i just love the warriors who say "try UW or FoW without a warrior"

well guess what?????? i do them almost 5 times a week with no warriors. it is beyind my comprehension how one class thinks they are so awesome.

get a clue guys you are no better and most times you are worse than any other class.

I would have tried to scam those two guys. Do the classic "trade 15 plat but then close the window real quick after he accepts, then repeat 12 times"

I would have taken the first group.

This idea that you absolutely need a monk is just... unfounded. Rangers and necromancers have just wonderful self-heals, and area-based heal skills (spring and well-of-blood). A good necromancer can single-handedly weaken an entire incoming warrior group, and raise minions from the slaughter. A good ranger can daze, distract, and render casters useless. Frankly, I'd gladly join a good team consisting of rangers and necromancers. If even 2 of these had a monk secondary, you've got ressurect and emergency heals. Add in a mesmer (to really shut down the casters) and your opponents' will barely touch your health bars. Why bother with healing when you can make sure your opponent doesn't have a chance to deal damage?

Warriors and Monks are seriously overrated, and, often, poorly played. I've got two PUG rules that I live by:

1. At most one warrior: two warriors often go different ways or
fail to setup a single aggregation; never a wa/mo, as they always
"go solo" on you and break the team dynamics.

2. At most 1/4 of the team a healer/protector. Too many monks and
you can't deal enough damage, and also, other people in the team
get lazy since they think the monk will save their hide.

I just did Elona's Reach in a PUG last night with only one warrior and one monk _secondary_ (el/mo, but focusing on fire magic). It consisted of a mesmer, a ranger, a necromancer, two elementalists and a warrior. We owned the mission -- it went very smoothly.

I totally agree, and often the people who play classes like Mesmer, Necro, etc, have a better idea of strategy and tactics because they have needed it to stay alive for the vast part of the game (no offense to warrior players out there), the same thing goes for Smiting monks.

The amount of Warriors and Monks in ratio to things like Necros, Mesmers and Primary Rangers is highly evident in Rune prices for those classes, I think it's this way because people make Chars like that with the thought of being invited into every group when they hit lvl20.
